CORE has been engaged by Praxis Real Estate Management Ltd – the asset management arm of Praxis, one of the UK’s best performing commercial property investors – to undertake a substantial earthworks package at the former Airfield, RAF Sealand in Deeside, North Wales.

To facilitate the development of the site, which forms part of the Deeside Enterprise Zone, CORE has been appointed as Principal Contractor, and will be overseeing the supply and delivery of over 200,000m3 of inert fill.

CORE will seal and stockpile the authorised and clean material on site in preparation for future development.

Inert fill is defined as ‘earth or rock fill or waste of a similar nature that contains no putrescible materials or soluble or decomposable chemical substances’.

Comments Chris Stacey, Commercial Manager at CORE: “This is a key piece of infrastructure for the Enterprise Zone which will accelerate development on the site. We want to ensure the potential of the site is unlocked as soon as possible, and will provide the client with most cost-effective solutions whilst not prolonging the potential for development.

“This is a hugely important project for CORE which utilises our expertise in earthworks and we are thrilled to be an integral part of what is without doubt the most important strategic development site in North Wales”.

In addition CORE will secure the site to prevent unauthorised tipping.

CORE’s value proposition comprises the full range of civil engineering, and associated project management services. Through a fully integrated approach, CORE delivers unparalleled certainty to meet the particular requirements of its clients.

Work will commence on site September 2017 for a period of 12 months.

The massive Northern Gateway Project on the former RAF Sealand site has the potential to create 3 million sq.ft of industrial, retail and manufacturing facilities and hundreds of homes.
