Lot’s of people fundraise, for lots of different reasons. This year the team at CORE are fundraising for Meningitis Now, for reasons that are particularly personal to CORE’s Marketing Manager Sarah-Jayne Beckett.

🧡 Sarah’s mate Pete Hynes, was her best friends husband. On the 3rd December 2022 Pete went to bed feeling unwell with cold-like symptoms. But Pete didn’t just have a cold, he had Bacterial Meningitis. With no obvious symptoms or warning signs, Pete collapsed at home and didn’t regain consciousness. He was only 40 years old.

His wife, two young children, teenage step-son, family and friends now have to navigate life without him….

By choosing Meningitis Now as CORE’s nominated Charity, we really hope to honour Pete’s memory but also raise loads of money and awareness of the disease and this amazing charity so more research can be funded, and greater awareness created.

Meningitis doesn’t discriminate and no one is immune.

We are kicking off our fundraising activity with a cycling challenge covering 3318 miles – Leeds to Long Island, New York, the home of Pete’s favourite Ice Hockey team!

We really hope our story inspires you to support us. Please visit our Just Giving page and help us to support an incredible charity 🧡
