Highways contract awarded to CORE – Beckwith Head Rd, Harrogate

CORE has been nominated as principal contractor by Beckwith Knowle Developments Ltd for essential highways works to facilitate the new developments off Beckwith Head Road in Harrogate.

The contract includes:
– Widening circa 440m of Beckwith Head Road by around 1m
– Creating a new cycle path circa 440m from Cardale Business Park to lady lane
– Upgrading existing footpath to a cycle path from Cardale Business Park to Otley Road
– Upgrading the Highway drainage (to include 90m of twin 900 diameter culverts)
– Installing new services for the developments
– Resurfacing the highway from Cardale Business park to lady lane.

Commencing Monday 22nd May 2017, Beckwith Head Road will be closed from the junction of Lady Lane to the junction with Cardale Park for a temporary period of 16 weeks (subject to access to premises). During the closure, traffic will be diverted locally via Howhill Road and Otley Road, indicated by the placing of traffic signs along the diverted route.

Beckwith Knowle Developments Ltd is a recently incorporated property development company set up for the specific purpose of delivering new healthcare and commercial facilities on land to the rear of Cardale Park, one of the premier business locations in the Harrogate District.

Harrogate Borough Council identified the 12-acre site as a potential employment site in the last Draft Development Plan and it was highly rated in a recent assessment of the employment land supply across the District. It is a particularly important location on the West side of Harrogate, given the close proximity to the recently consented residential development sites.

The Council is enabling the supply of housing required to meet the needs of a growing population and Beckwith Knowle will support these efforts by providing much needed employment space in an already established commercial area.

This commercial development will help to maintain businesses in Harrogate and will provide a range of office and high tech accommodation suited to new companies, to ensure Harrogate can retain and grow its work force, both in scale and skills.
