Press Release: May 10th 2021
A luxury hotel on the outskirts of Whitby will now be able to expand its accommodation to potential buyers, after securing planning permission to develop a village of 190 second homes with a village square boasting “Parisian style” cafés, artisan shops, a bakery/pizzeria and galleries.
Raithwaite Village in Sandsend near Whitby has been granted permission to expand after councillors give the green light, and the owners of the Estate have now instructed CORE to commence works on the first phase of development!
The award of the contract for the first phase includes: earthworks, road construction, retaining walls, foundations and drainage to allow pre-fabricated holiday lodges to be sited on the estate.
The duration of the initial phase of the contract is 10 weeks.
There will be four phases of development over the next four years. The first phase includes three glass villas built into the hillside, four lodges set on stilts and 14 Yorkshire stone cottages.
A spokesperson from CORE said: “We are excited to get started on this new project!
“Raithwaite Village is a beautiful development, and this proposal will only enhance it further by transforming it into what will be Yorkshire’s most upmarket holiday village.
The 98-acre Raithwaite Village in Sandsend currently comprises a 73-bedroom hotel and clusters of converted farm buildings and new-build cottages. The southern end of the site is within the North York Moors National Park.
